The purpose of the Graduate Student Travel/Publication/Virtual Conference Grant is to support the professional advancement of graduate students and raise the profile of the University by covering the costs associated with travel to conferences and meetings. Applications may be made to any of the three competitions, but each applicant may only be awarded one Grant per fiscal year (April 1 – March 31). Dates are based on the date of application, not on the date of travel.

The University of Winnipeg Student's Association Conference Funding

Student conference funding is available for both undergraduate and graduate students. The funding can be used towards the conference, field course or practicum or costs associated with attending the conference, field course, or practicum.
The UWSA does provide retroactive funding, therefore any applications that are received before your travel date, but are not reviewed until after, will still be considered for funding.
Students in Joint Masters Programs are not eligible for UWSA funding.

Ages Foundation Research Fellowship & Bursaries
The rare Charitable Research Reserve has partnered with Cambridge & North Dumfries Community Foundation, Ages Foundation Fund to financially assist students in pursuit of higher education as they tackle important environmental issues. The Research Fellowship & Bursaries program will allow students to study in a relatively undisturbed, yet highly accessible site in Waterloo Region. Applications that utilize multiple knowledge systems and diverse methodologies will be prioritized. The monetary awards will help ensure successful candidates have the necessary resources to conduct and report on their research at rare.

AKFC's International Youth Fellowship Program
自1989年以来,阿加汗基金会加拿大(AKFC)been helping to develop young Canadian leaders in the field of international development through its Development Fellowship Program.Fellowships feature an eight-month placement in Asia or Africa, preceded by a four week management seminar in Ottawa facilitated by leading development practitioners. The month-long management seminar in Ottawa provides fellows with a thorough grounding in the skills required to contribute effectively to their host organizations by emphasizing an analytical approach and strategic thinking and planning. Workshops are taught by some of Canada’s foremost international cooperation professionals. Participants then carry out an eight-month internship where they gain first-hand, practical experience, while contributing to their host organization’s work.

Bill Davidson Graduate Student Award
The Award, in the past, has been presented biennially to a Graduate Student to participate in the ETP Symposia that Bill Davidson was instrumental in creating. Due to COVID 19 pandemic restrictions in place, The Davidson Family and ETP's Scientific Advisory Committee have changed the format of the Award. The Award will be based on the criteria below and is to be used to help pay for the Student's tuition at a Canadian post-secondary institution. The Davidson Family is generously supporting this Award, which will now take place on an annual basis.

Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED)
The Canada-ASEAN SEED brings undergraduate and graduate students from eligible counties to Canada to stud and conduct research, for 4-6 month. Proposed projects must contribute to the realization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the developing counties of ASEAN.

Canadian Institute for Nordic Studies Graduate Scholarship
Applications will be evaluated on the quality of the proposed programme, the qualifications of the applicant to complete the programme and the potential of the programme to further academic and cultural links with the Nordic countries. Canadian Police Science Association: Parliamentary Internship Programme

They regularly meet with eminent Canadians through the Brown Bag Lunch series and have access to a wide range of journalists, members of the diplomatic community and representatives of Canada’s public and private sectors. Canadian Standards Association Group Graduate Scholarship
The Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Group is launching a graduate scholarship for Masters students who include standards as a component of their research. This is a competitive program offering funding of $10,000 per year for up to two years. The purpose of the CSA Group Graduate Scholarship is to support graduate students in the pursuit of knowledge generation related to standards. Graduate students at the Masters level studying at a publicly-funded, accredited Canadian university are eligible to apply. The thesis can be conducted in any field (e.g. engineering, social sciences, health sciences) and must include standards as a component of the research. The topic does not need to be related to an area in which CSA Group already has standards. The research may investigate aspects of an existing standard or may explore an area for future standards development.

Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan
The Commonwealth Plan provides opportunities for Commonwealth students to pursue advanced studies in other Commonwealth countries. The fellowships are awarded to graduates of recognized universities for a period of two academic years and the intervening summer, and are intended to cover the holder's travel, living, and study expenses during the period of tenure. Commonwealth Scholarships tenable in Canadian universities are open to men and women who are citizens of a Commonwealth country and are normally resident in any part of the Commonwealth other than Canada. Applicants who have or are applying for landed immigrant status in Canada are not eligible.

D.F. Plett Graduate and Post Doctoral Fellowships
The D.F. Plett Historical Research Foundation provides graduate fellowships for students in the Masters and PhD programs at the University of Winnipeg/Manitoba, and in the Master's program at Canadian Mennonite University. The Foundation also has a Post Doctoral fellowship for applicants who already have their PhD and are pursuing research related to the Foundation’s mandate.

Globalink Research Awards
Awards to help faculty and students at Canadian universities deepen the research links between Canadian and international educational institutions. Faculty in any discipline may submit applications on behalf of their senior undergraduate or graduate students, or postdoctoral scholars. Awards will be made to students in support of 12- to 24-week research projects at selected universities in eligible countries. Reciprocal opportunities also exist for students and postdocs from selected partner countries to come to Canada.

International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Scholarships
The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) offers grants, funding, and awards to researchers and institutions to find solutions for global development challenges. Through calls for research proposals, the IDRC funds projects that aim to bring employment, food security, health, peace, and prosperity to developing regions of the world.

The Linda Michaluk Scholarship (LMS)
The Linda Michaluk Scholarship (LMS) is a scholarship of$2,500established to honour the contributions to the College of Applied Biology by the founding Chief Executive Officer (Executive Director). The College of Applied Biology is the regulatory body for applied biology professionals working with natural resources in British Columbia.
The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a Master or Doctor of Philosophy degree candidate at a Canadian university whose project advances science-informed decisions/decision making in the public interest with respect to natural resources in Canada. Advancing science-informed decisions/decision-making includes supporting the development of legislation (Acts), regulations or policies that affect the practice(s) of natural resource management in Canada.

Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority (LGCA) of Manitoba Scholarships
The LGCA is committed to supporting high-quality, innovative research linked to our regulatory mandate. The LGCA offers scholarships for graduate students who are conducting liquor, cannabis or gambling research at Manitoba universities.

The Lila Fahlman Scholarship is named after the late Dr. Lila Fahlman, a renowned educator and founder of CCMW (Canadian Council of Muslim Women). The scholarship is sponsored by CCMW with generous donations from CCMW members and supporters. Each year, at CCMW’s annual brunch, funds are raised for Canadian Muslim women to assist in their education. The Women Who Inspires event raised funds to support promising Canadian Muslim women in their studies. Without scholarships and bursaries, many women cannot afford to complete their education, which can provide them with a better future for themselves and their families. Scholarships of $1000 will be awarded to Canadian Muslim women who are enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree or certificate programs at a Canadian college or university. Preference for one of the scholarships may be given to a Muslim woman of African descent.

The Maple Leaf Centre for Action on Food Security Scholarship in Food Security
The Maple Leaf Centre for Action on Food Security is pleased to announce the creation of nine scholarships in recognition of the extraordinary contribution of David Emerson, Wallace McCain, and Purdy Crawford as past Chairs of the Maple Leaf Foods’ Board of Directors. Three scholarships valued at$15,000will be distributed each year for three years, beginning in the 2020/2021 academic year.

The Mary Guilbault Métis Bursary
The Mary Guilbault Métis Bursary is an award available to Manitoba Métis students who excel in their academics and community. Any Métis student enrolled in their second year or more at a post-secondary institution in Manitoba may apply. All applicants must have resided in Manitoba for at least 12 months. This bursary was named in honour of Mrs. Mary Guilbault, a respected Elder in the Métis community and a pivotal player in the creation of the Manitoba Métis Federation.

Newberry Consortium
The Newberry Consortium’s fellowship program provides outstanding scholars with the time, space, and community required to pursue innovative and ground-breaking scholarship. Fellows have access to the Newberry’s wide-ranging and rare archival materials as well as to a lively, interdisciplinary community of researchers, curators, and librarians. Recipients are expected to advance scholarship in various fields, develop new interpretations, and expand our understandings of the past.

The RBC National Indigenous Student Internship Program
The RBC National Indigenous Student Internship Program was launched in 1992 to assist Aboriginal students to complete post-secondary education, and provide an opportunity for RBC to strengthen its relationship with the Aboriginal community. Selected students are awarded up to $4,000 each academic year for two to four years to use towards tuition, textbooks, supplies and living expenses.

Senior Women Academic Administrators of Canada: Graduate Student Award of Merit
At least three awards, each in the amount of $3000, will be awarded annually to women graduate students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the university or general community while maintaining exemplary academic records.

Soroptimist Foundation of Canada Grants
The Soroptimist Foundation of Canada annually offers several $7,500 grants to female graduate students in Canada to assist them with university studies which will qualify them for careers which will improve the quality of women's lives. Examples include but are not limited to: providing services, providing legal counselling and assistance, counselling mature women entering or re-entering the labour market, counselling women in crisis, counselling and training women for non-traditional employment, and positions in women's centres.

Toptal Scholarships for Women
The Toptal Scholarship for Women will award five scholarships to aspiring female leaders in five global regions: Africa, The Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania. Each winner will receive (US)$10,000 and a year of weekly one-on-one mentoring by a Toptal expert.
