Biography:

Dr. Angela Failleris Professor of Women’s & Gender Studies and Tier II Canada Research Chair in Culture and Public Memory at the University of Winnipeg. She directs theCentre for Research in Cultural Studies, is a Research Affiliate with theInstitute for Women's and Gender Studies,and teaches and supervises for theMA Program in Cultural Studies. Her research is focused on culture and public memory including an in-depth study of how the 1985 Air India bombings figure in Canadian and transnational public memory. She is also interested in phenomena at the intersection of culture, embodiment and psychical life and has published writings on anorexia and self-harm in this vein. Most recently, she has turned her attention to matters of representation and witnessing in museums, leading a partnership development project onThinking through the Museum, and co-leading博物馆Queerieswith Dr. Heather Milne (English). Dr. Failler serves as a Contributing Editor for the international journalReview of Education, Pedagogy and CulturalStudies.In 2012 she won the Clifford J. Robson Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence.
